ELVERT BAÑARES

Elvert Bañares is a Gawad URIAN nominated and Gawad CCP winning independent Film Director, Multidisciplinary Artist, Film Producer and Educator for 27 years whose art, designs and films were screened/exhibited in 5 continents, more than 80 international film festivals in more than 30 countries around the world including the prestigious FANTASPORTO; the Academy Award Qualifying Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival; São Paulo International Short Film Festival; and winning awards during the pandemic years in Berlin and Copenhagen. In 2021, he was one of the invited guests by the Tokyo International Film Festival.

He was Consultant of the NCCA Cinema Program; Former NCCA Representative to the FDCP Board; Twice elected to the National Executive Committee on Cinema; Founder of the pioneering festivals eKsperim[E]nto Festival of Film & New Media and CineKasimanwa; first ever Regional Manager of Cinemalaya in Visayas; Programmer of the 1st and 2nd ASEAN Film Fest; Founder of the first and only film grants in the regions, Western Visayas Film Grants Program; and, currently Festival Director of Bakunawa Festival and Sine Halaga Film Festival and Educational Resources.
