Ganito Sila Noon, Paano Tayo Ngayon? : Ang Maging Probinsyanong Filmmaker at Guro sa Panahon na Lahat ay Bida-bidahan

“Tao tayo. Marunong magkamali; marunong din gumawa ng tama. Ating mga pagkakamali, minsa’y nakakatuwa, minsa’y nakakawa. Sa mga nagdaang panahon, may lumisan at may ipinanganak. Sa kasalukuyan, maari mo kaya makasalubong at makasalamuha ang mga nagawang tama at kamalian ng kahapon? Paano natin haharapin ang mga ito sa dami ng pagsubok ng makabagong panahon?”

This film workshop of CCP Arts Academy for 2022 is inspired by the themes of the landmark film by National Artist Eddie Romero who hails from Dumaguete - the venue for this year’s Arts Academy (the opening of the workshop description itself is a play of the long tagline from its 1976 original poster). Participants will be stepping in the filmmaker’s shoes to arm them with the skills in creating community film productions and help them in appraising various cinematic and multimedia works, mirroring themes from the classic film “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?”. Recommended for teachers, lovers of film and student-filmmakers, this immersive workshop will affirm one’s love for excellent regional aesthetics that have made regional films a source of the country’s pride.
