ANG BIDA SA SUGUIDANON
THE SUGUIDANON EPIC CHARACTERS
Let's take a closer look at the characters of the Suguidanon Epic of the Panay Bukidnon who are featured in the short film 'Sa Paglupad Ka Banog'. The indigenous Epic is full of interesting characters and five of the many characters are brought to life in our film. The interpretation of their looks and costumes were designed by filmmaker Elvert Bañares and visual artist Sabrec with the guidance and approval of Cultural Master and Lead Actor Romulo Caballero and the Panay Bukidnon Council of Elders through the facilitation of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.
HUMADAPNON
OUR MIGHTY GOLDEN HERO
Humadapnon - is a golden hero, the most charming chieftain in the epic. Considered as the most powerful, bravest, and most skillful warrior, he has a banog (hawk bird) and a punay (dove) as pets.
BANOG
HUMADAPNON'S PET BIRD
Banog - is Humadapnon's pet bird that fetched water from a well-guarded source used in a ritual to bring its master to life.
MALI
THE SECLUDED BEAUTY, HUMADAPNON'S MOST LOVED.
Mali - is admired as the most beautiful and most powerful golden binukot (well-kept maiden).
SUNMASAKAY
THE WARRIOR WHO BECOMES HUMADAPNON'S ALLY.
Sunmasakay - is an alter self of Mali. He is a well-built warrior with lustrous skin and scent of a woman.
PABAYHU
THE HUNGRY CROCODILE WHO LIVES WHERE THE WATER OF LIFE FLOWS.
Pabayhu - is a huge crocodile that guards the water source that could bring Humadapnon to life.
